Mike Mussina and Rich Dauer to be inducted into Orioles Hall of Fame tomorrow
On Saturday, August 25, the Orioles and Oriole Advocates will hold a formal induction ceremony prior to their 7:05 p.m. game with the Toronto Blue Jays to honor 2012 Orioles Hall of Fame inductees MIKE MUSSINA and RICH DAUER and Herb Armstrong Award recipient WALTER YOUSE. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:30 p.m.
In his 10 seasons as a starting pitcher with the Orioles, Mussina compiled 147 wins and a 3.53 ERA, pitching more than 200 innings seven times. He will become the 50th inductee into the Orioles Hall of Fame.
A second baseman, Dauer spent all 10 seasons in the majors with the Orioles and accumulated a .985 career fielding percentage. He was a part of the World Series championship team in 1983. Dauer will become the 51st inductee into the Orioles Hall of Fame.
Youse played a pivotal role in Baltimore baseball as an amateur coach before becoming a full-time scout with the Orioles in 1959. He passed away on April 15, 2002 at the age of 88. Youse will receive the Herb Armstrong Award, given to non-uniformed personnel for distinguished service to the Orioles and the game of baseball.
The annual Orioles Hall of Fame Luncheon was held earlier today to honor Mussina, Dauer and Youse.

J.J. HARDY APPEARANCE AT AT&T STORE IN HANOVER, MD
On Saturday, August 25, SS J.J. HARDY will make an appearance at the AT&T store in Hanover, MD from 11:00 a.m. – noon. Hardy will sign autographs and greet fans. The event is free of charge and open to the public. The store is located at 7000 Arundel Mills Circle #336, Hanover, MD.
SOUTHWEST AIRLINES TRADING PLACES AT BWI AIRPORT
On Wednesday, August 29, RHP JIM JOHNSON and RHP DARREN O’DAY will be at BWI Airport to participate in the Southwest Airlines “Trading Places” promotion. The players will participate in a variety of jobs of different Southwest employees including Marshalling an aircraft, taking tickets, making announcements and welcoming passengers. This event is not open to the public. For media interested in covering, the event will take place from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

HALOTI NGATA FIRST PITCH
On Tuesday, August 28, Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman HALOTI NGATA will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game vs. the Chicago White Sox. Ngata is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and has spent his entire seven-year career with the Ravens.
RBI CEREMONY AND TROPHY PRESENTATION
On Wednesday, August 29 before their game against the Chicago White Sox, the Orioles will recognize players and coaches of the Baltimore RBI League champion teams in a special on-field ceremony with Orioles centerfielder and RBI League supporter, ADAM JONES. The James Mosher Astros, champions from the 13-15 age group with a 9-2 record, and the Hampden Heat, the champions from the 16-18 age group with an 8-2 record, will be honored in the ceremony. Over 300 Baltimore teenagers participated in the Orioles-funded league this summer.
TEACHER OF THE YEAR
The Maryland Teacher of the Year Program is the state’s premiere teacher recognition and teaching ambassador program. Each year, this program selects a teacher representative from each of the 24 local school districts in Maryland. The selected teachers are their system’s local Teachers of the Year. This year’s winner, JOSHUA PARKER, was announced as the 2012 Maryland Teacher of the Year at the Maryland State Department of Education’s Annual Awards Gala at Martin’s West on October 14, 2011. Josh is from Baltimore County and teaches English at Windsor Mill Middle School, located in Randallstown. He also organized a middle school all-male reading club, coached a boys’ junior varsity basketball team, and directed a top-ten finishing Black Saga Team.

ORIOLES PLAYER AND PET CALENDAR PRESENTED BY SOUTHWEST ON SALE
The fourth annual Orioles Player and Pet Calendar, presented by Southwest Airlines, is currently on sale at www.orioles.com. Proceeds from the sales of the calendar, which has sold out each of the last three seasons, will benefit the Baltimore Animal and Rescue Care Shelter (BARCS). The 15-month full-color calendars are $15.
Orioles players were photographed with their pets and with pets up for adoption at BARCS. Many Orioles participated, including manager BUCK SHOWALTER with his four Bassett Hounds Sader, Webster, Jasper & Opie; MATT WIETERS with his German Shepherd rescue, Millie, and rescue cats, Omaha & Ducky; ADAM JONES with his Lab mix rescue named Missy; and JJ HARDY with Dutchhess, a Shepherd-Husky mix from BARCS.
BARCS needs over 1,679 adoptions from August 1 to October 31 to be eligible to receive a $100,000 prize from ASPCA’s national Rachael Ray 100K challenge. Adoption fees will be waived during this time. Through this funding, BARCS will be able to assist hundreds of additional animals in need in the Baltimore area. ORIOLES MILITARY APPRECIATION PROGRAM
As part of the Orioles’ Military Appreciation Program, sponsored by GEICO, the Orioles and OriolesREACH donate a catered private suite at each Sunday home game at Oriole Park to servicemen and women. This Sunday, August 26, military members from Ft. Meade will enjoy the game vs. the Toronto Blue Jays from a catered suite and will have an opportunity for a meet and greet with NICK MARKAKIS, and receive an Under Armour Player t-shirt.
STEAL SECOND BASE PRESENTED BY ESSKAY
The Orioles will again feature the Steal Second Base contest for every Sunday home game this season. Presented by ESSKAY, the Steal Second Base contest allows a young fan to participate in a timed race from the grounds crew area in center field to retrieve second base. Fans can sign up for the opportunity at the ballpark at any Fan Assistance Center. The lucky winner will receive four tickets to that day’s game, gift certificates to use inside the park, an Orioles jersey and an Orioles prize pack. This year, for the first time, the contestants will also get to keep the authentic base that they steal. This Sunday’s winner is Kanya Bean, an eight year old from Baltimore.
GIANT FOOD HONORARY BAT KIDS
Once again, the Orioles have partnered with Giant Food stores this summer to host the Giant Honorary Bat Kids program. Children ages 6-14 can enter by filling out an entry form at select Giant Food stores and submitting in the entry box in the store or mailing the form directly to the Baltimore Orioles. This program will take place through August 30. One boy and one girl will be selected to be the Honorary Bat Kids at each Orioles game, excluding Sundays. Winners will receive four tickets to the game, on-field access to watch Orioles batting practice and the opportunity to receive autographs, an Orioles t-shirt and hat. Each winner will also participate in an on-field, pre-game ceremony where they are presented with an official Honorary Bat Boy/Girl certificate and have a photo opportunity with the Oriole Bird.

During each home game the Orioles provide a community booth for charitable, non-profit organizations to distribute information, sell raffle tickets, register participants or conduct health care screenings for Orioles fans. This season, OriolesREACH will again host thousands of underprivileged youth as part of the OriolesREACH Gameday Experience Program. Group members receive game tickets, concessions vouchers, an Orioles t-shirt, a cap and transportation to and from the game. Tickets are provided courtesy of Orioles players.
