After taking two from three from the Rays, we have the free swinging and powerful Rangers — who were swept by Detroit this weekend.
Since my girlfriend is a Rangers fan from Dallas who believes the Orioles suck, I’ll say this — Baltimore will once again take two out of three from an opponent and Texas will be the victim. Well, the Rangers have Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler, Michael Young, and a bunch of other mashers; however, their pitching is suspect — very suspect. We’ll miss ace Kevin Millwood, but we’ll have Vicente Padilla, Brandon McCarthy, and old friend Kris Benson.
If the Rangers could ever, ever get pitching, and retro-fit their park to their staff, that team would be an instant contender and send quivers up my spine. However, I think the Orioles will take the series because of their offense, and I really think Uehara will do well against the Rangers — at least his first time around with them — and if Simon along with Hendrickson keep them in the game, we’ll do fine.
Maybe I am being too positibe, but as long as the little things are done right, the Orioles can be competitive.
- Monday: Uehara (1-0, 1.80) vs. Padilla (1-0, 4.76)
- Tuesday: Simon (0-1, 7.20) vs. McCarthy (1-0, 5.40)
- Wednesday: Hendrickson (1-0, 1.69) vs. Benson (0-1, 12.60)
By the way, I really love the Oriole cartoons in the Sun; I really do.
