Eight Losses in a Row: Tribe Scalp Birds; Time for a Change?

The second half for the Baltimore Orioles started much like the end of the first — with a loss.

This evening, the Orioles lost to the Cleveland Orioles, 8-4. They are now 36-53, 17 games under .500 and 18 1/2 games out of first. They have literally won once in the last TWO weeks. Pathetic. Is it now getting to the point that fans are just not caring anymore? Yes.

It’s not good right now. The enthusiasm for this team among many is gone now. Is anything going to change? Right now, it looks like it is going to be another painful summer for us fans as the losses are mounting.

Once again, yet another Baltimore pitcher didn’t into the sixth inning. Jeremy Guthrie only lasted five frames, and earned his 13th loss of the season. He sadly leads the league with losses.

What can one say? The Indians scored three in the first inning and didn’t look back. Baltimore made things interesting as they stayed within two runs of Cleveland (they led 4-2) until the sicth inning; however, The Tribe pulled away with a four-run sixth inning.

Once again, the Orioles bured themselves with a poor pitching effort and leaving runners on base. Baltimore had a chance to push in several runs in the fifth inning off the Indians’ starting pitcher Justin Masterson, but they left two runners on.

That would be it for the Orioles. After the top of the sixth inning, they dug a hole that could not be climbed out of.

The Orioles look defeated, deflated and just out of it. At this point, you have to wonder how long pitching coach Rick Adair will be on the job.

At this point, what happens? Since things have just fallen to crap with the Orioles, should they just go ahead and start dealing some veterans? Maybe as James mused last week, maybe it might be time to blow things up – again.

Finally, if you get a chance, check out 105.7 The Fan’s interview with Keith Law.

You may not like what Law has to say. As time goes along, he’s coming off as being absolutely right about the Orioles.
