The Matt Wieters Concern

Matt Wieters was supposed to be the savior. The one-man wrecking crew that would put the team, and the city, on his shoulders and carry us back to the promised land. He would be the next Cal. He would be our star. He would be the final piece of the puzzle. Going into his second […]

The Spring so Far 2011

The Orioles have had a pretty solid Spring so far. The team sits a a practice record of 4-3-1 so far. Nolan Reimold is playing strong. So far Reimold is batting .333 with a .722 SLG and an OPS well over 1.0. After working out most of the Winter with former Oriole slugging center fielder […]

Orioles dealing with injuries

Brain Roberts’ neck; Derrek Lee’s thumb and Justin Duchscherer’s hip. All three have flared up a bit recently and forced each player to take some time off. Roberts’ neck issue: not an issue. Roberts missed three days of work outs when on February 25th he woke up with what he described as a “stiff neck”. […]

Steinbrenner opens his mouth, annoys blogger

Yankees owner Hank Steinbrenner opened his mouth today complaining about the luxury taxes and revenue sharing fees his team must pay. According to Steinbrenner, in an ESPN article, the Yankees will pay roughly $130 million due to their exorbitant payroll. “We’ve got to do a little something about that, and I know Bud wants to […]

You can never hold back Spring

I’m back. If you noticed I was gone. Life got in the way. My family experienced a rather stressful, harrowing and very scary medical emergency over the last month. My time has been devoted to that. My mind has been on things other than baseball. Things finally seem to be looking better and the lives […]

Fanfest 2011

Yesterday the Orioles held their annual Fanfest at the Baltimore Convention Center and it was a good time. First of, the place was packed. When My friend Josh and I arrived a little before 10 AM, to attend the “State of the Orioles” forum for season ticket hoders the line stretched around the convention center’s […]

Bring back Natty Boh

The Orioles have done a lot over the last few years to try and re-acquaint themselves with the immediate city-community. They put Baltimore back on the road-jerseys, the Orioles Reach Program has been a very visible and effective force in the area and despite a bump in single-game ticket prices the team has really […]

The Rays, Jays and what it means for the Orioles

The Rays and Jays have made some interesting moves this past week. The Jays sent Vernon Wells and his albatross contract to the Angels for Mike Napoli and Juan Rivera meanwhile the Tampa Bay Rays signed both Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez to one-year deals. Both of these deals impact the Orioles in the positive […]

Baseball season can start now

I know a lot of us are still reeling from yesterday’s utter collapse of a game. I still don’t know how it happened, but it did. Ugh. On the bright side ladies and gents of the interwebs; Orioles Spring Training is just around the corner and for the first time in seemingly decades I think […]

ORIOLES SIGN DERREK LEE! FINALLY!

Hallelujah! The Orioles have found their first baseman in free agent Derrek Lee! The Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec reports that the Orioles have signed Lee to a one year deal between $8 and $10 million. GREAT DEAL! GREAT PICKUP! GREAT SCOTT! Our long national boredom is over.   HAPPY NEW YEAR BALTIMORE!

Nothing Happening

Seriously, nothing is happening. LaRoche is still out there, as is Lee. One will be the Orioles’ first baseman, the other will go to the Nats someone just has to make up their mind first. I would say that its like waiting for Christmas morning to arrive, but Adam LaRoche and Derrek Lee do not […]

Waiting…………

And waiting still. The Orioles ARE going to get a first baseman. Of this I am certain. Adam LaRoche and Derrek Lee are the two men that the Orioles have tapped to man the right corner of the infield. One of them, most likely, will be wearing an Orioles uniform next year. Reportedly, the Orioles […]

The Winter Ahead

Christmas is right around the corner and the Winter Meetings are behind us and might I say that the Winter Meetings were very good to the Orioles. Andy MacPhail had seen Adam Dunn and Victor Martinez had spurned the Orioles; Paul Konerko had made his intentions clear and many fans were sharpening their pitchforks nand […]
