Derek Jeter, Passing Gehrig and the Rain…

And why is this game being played now?

… um, because of Derek Jeter. If this were anyone else in baseball, this game is not played. Yes, I said it — this game is being played to make sure he gets the record on Friday night. I don’t think anyone wants to endure a doubleheader on Saturday.

The conditions outside look crazy, and I guess the world has to see Derek Jeter plus the first-place Yankees. I admire much as much as anyone aside from myself being an Oriole fan, but the attention given to him by the media seems to be a bit much — no?

Oh lord, Alex Rodriguez must have hit one the longest homers I have seen this year. Yankees up 3-0 off Tillman. I see an ugly night ahead, especially after Pettitte dominated Baltimore just a few weeks ago.
