Reimold's Walk-Off Homer Leads O's Over Jays in 11th; Baltimore Gets Three Game Sweep
Written by The Oriole Post

What a day.

Nolan Reimold, who is still pretty much wet behind the ears in terms of his major league tenure, came through again today as he hit a game-winning home run (a three run shot) off Brian Wolfe in the 11th inning as Baltimore won on Thursday, 12-10, sweeping the three game set from Toronto.

In between meetings and work, I caught snippets of the game via MLB.com audio and figured after the Orioles were down 7-3 to Roy Halladay in the fifth inning, I assumed the game was over and resumed my day.

However, I managed to turn on the radio out of curiosity in my car as I left the office -- mainly to find out what the final result was around 4:30pm -- and to amazement, the game was still going on! The Orioles had come back thanks to a five run rally in the eighth; however, they blew a golden chance to take the lead as Nick Markakis plated the tying run, but an aggressive Adam Jones got thrown out at home.

The Orioles found themselves down 10-8 as Aaron Hill hit a two-run shot off of Danys Baez in the 11th; however, the Black and Orange stormed back. In the bottom of the inning, Luke Scott plated in Markakis with a single, and then Reimold's shot -- with Melvin Mora on third base and Scott on first -- made the difference.

Baltimore has now won five of six, while Toronto -- who were in first place as of two weeks ago in the AL East -- have found themselves losers of nine in a row.

Blue Jay ace Roy Halladay had a solid effort flushed down the drain, and Baez earned the win -- his fourth of the season. Wolfe -- the reliever who gave up the game-winning homer in the 11th -- was charged with the loss.

Rich Hill had a poor start in his first game at Camden Yards as he got touched up four seven runs -- six earned -- in only 3 1/3 innings of work.

In other news, Koji Uehara went on the DL today and Luke Scott was activated from the disabled list. Also, David Hernandez -- who struck out 14 in his last start in Norfolk -- will take the hill for Baltimore on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers in the first contest in a four-game set.
